An extremely rare and important example of de Beucker's secular figurative work, this beautifully painted image of a young girl seated on a marble bench dates to 1908, considered his best period, De Beucker is remembered as possibly Belgium's finest painter of still-life subjects at the turn of the twentieth century, and his figure paintings are equally competent.
